Serious Personal Injury

Right Forearm InjuryAt Blackman Legal Group, we have experience in all aspects of the most serious personal injuries. When you or a family member suffers any serious injury, you need an attorney with experience regarding the legal ramifications of the accident; you also need an attorney with a medical understanding of the injuries sustained to provide you with the best opportunity for full, fair compensation for the pain, suffering, lost wages, medical expenses, including future damages and expenses resulting from the accident.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Blackman Legal Group has 26 years of experience helping injured people recover physically and financially from injuries and accidents. We know that when an accident happens, you may find yourself wondering what to do and who to trust. Our attorneys are ready to help. If you have questions, please contact us.

Questions you may have when involved in an accident include:

  1. When should I seek medical care?
Although you may think you feel fine right after a serious accident, you should seek medical attention promptly. People will often find that rather than feeling better 12-24 hours after an accident, they feel much worse. Waiting to get treatment or trying to “tough it out” will only hurt your chances of making a full medical and legal recovery. When you see the doctor, you should be sure to explain exactly what your injuries or complaints are. Do not try to minimize your injuries or symptoms. You will be giving insufficient information to your medical providers, making it much more difficult for them to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Can You Believe...? Injury Facts and Figures
The federal government's National Center for Injury Protection and Control keeps track of injury statistics. Here are some of the Center's details about injury in the United States.

  • Every year, more than 90,000 people die in the United States as a result of unintentional injuries.
  • Accidental injuries result in about 31 million emergency room visits each year.

Ten Things to Think About: Preventing Childhood Injuries
1) Accidental falls are a leading cause of injury-related emergency room visits. To reduce the chances of your child falling at home, make sure that you supervise your children's play, do not keep furniture near windows, bar or securely latch all windows and screens, block all stairways from younger children, keep stairs and halls free of toys and other items, and don't use baby walkers.

2) Not all falls occur at home, however. In order to minimize the risk of injury from falls away from home, visit only playgrounds with safe surfaces like wood chips, pebbles or rubberized pathways and closely monitor your child's play; use safety restraints in shopping carts and stay close to the cart at all times; hold your child's hand on stairways and escalators; make wearing helmets, pads, guards, and other protective gear mandatory when biking, in-line skating, and engaging in other activities likely to result in falls; and select age-apoporpraite activities for your children.
